Filming in this region of the world was nothing like I had expected. I had heard horror stories about what it was like in India and Bangladesh, seen news coverage of tragedies occurring in both countries, and was aware of the extreme poverty that these countries face. However everything I was afraid of I never encountered.
As I filmed in both urban and rural environments I was amazed at how comfortable I was, never once feeling threatened, never once worried about my bag or equipment. I was taken a back by the intense beauty and colour of this region, and the immense kindness that strangers showed. Especially when entering villages, un-announced, I was greeted with much excitement and often an invitation to stay for food and drink.
